Yeah, Tanev is composed. That's the best you can say for him. If he thinks he's worth big money, he's wrong.

the guy I think of when I think of Tanev's situation is Adam Pardy when he was in Calgary.

They let him walk because he thought he was a 2 million dollar player and so did Dallas and he wasn't ever really heard of since.

Composed while playing VERY sheltered minutes. Only Corrado and Joslin had lower Relative Corsi QoC last season. He still has a ton to prove before he's worth a penny over $1.75MM.

You know I don't know what's going to happen but based on what Gillis said(which doesn't mean shyt) I don't want to see almost the same line up next year even with a better coach. This is my idea...trade Edler for Ryan or second choice Connelly and sign Hannan and Blum for D. Let the rookies play...Bo and Hunter.

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Burrows-Kesler-Ryan
Shinkaruk-Horvat-Jensen
Booth-Higgins-Hansen

Bieksa-Hamhuis
Garrison-Tanev
Hannan-Corrado

Blum

Lu
Erikkson

Scoring everywhere.

So Ian you don't think Gillis trades for a top 6 forward?

If he does it will be after the first 9 games. I think he wants to give one of the kids that spot, but if they aren't ready and no one else looks like they can lock it down then he makes the move.

3 year contract and only making that in his last year. $1.25 for the first year $1.5 second. If he didn't work out at least its a movable contract.

Ken Holland is often considered one of, if not the, best GMs in hockey. He says you don't pay a lot for defencemen that don't score. Tanev has contributed virtually zero offence. He will likely get around $1.75M. If he gets an offer sheet it'll likely be $2M - $2.5M.

If he gets an offer sheet of that caliber let him go. We have depth at D right now and I would bet that what ever happens with Tanev directly effects what we do with Edler. Corrado LOCK this kid in.

Corrado has way more upside than Tanev. The only real problem with losing Tanev is that you then have to find a replacement. Hard to find a cheap one through free agency.

Seems to be a ton of rumours today that I have heard but none pertaining to the Canucks. Quiet on the home front or the calm before the storm.

A lot of Oiler fans were hoping for Tuebert to be more than he was... he's just not an NHL level defenseman.

Calm before the calm. Unless they trade players first, they really have very little to spend on the balance of the lineup. I could see them going after Blum - especially if Tanev wants north of 2 mil.

I think Gillis will be pushing for a 2 year deal, so Tanev is still an RFA at the end of the contract, $1.25/$1.75 - cap hit $1.5m and his qualifying offer is $1.75

Wow, the money getting thrown around is ridiculous, I hope Gillis doesn't sign anyone today. Lets see what's left over tomorrow.

With the cap issues it looks like we will need to fill the 3C slot with a discount player, unless Edler or ???? gets moved.
